Kuussaari is located in the municipality of Pyhtää, in Äyspääselkä at Suomenlahti. You can reach the recreation destination by boat, by canoe, or during the winter by walking across the ice.
KUUSSAARI RECREATION AREA
There is a rest shelter, toilet, platform and campfire site at the recreational destination.
Kuussaari is the perfect destination for boaters and canoers during the summer. It is easy to moor at the beach platform. It is 4 km from the mainland.
With the exception of shoreside cabins at the western coast, all of Kuussaari is in recreational use. The total surface area is 25.5ha It is nice going for walks on the island, along the eastern shore all the way to the southern tip of the island. There you can see the islands of Töiholma and Timperi. Paths have been formed on the island, which you can follow to walk and hoke around the area. The official campfire site is located near the platfrom at the northern end of the island. Please note that fires must not be made elsewhere. The recreational destination has a large shelter and toilets.
How to get here
Road E18 branches off from Kotka and arrives at Huutjärvi 2 km. Continue along Lökörentie all the way to the beach. E18 from Helsinki diverts to Siltakylä. Continue along Huutjärventie and turn on to Lökörentie. Drive until you reach the shore. From here, you will need your own boat or canoe. No charter transport.
Public transport takes you conveniently to the centre of Huutjärvi, from where it is 1.7 km to the shore.
